Lacombe & District Volunteer Link is a non-profit church operated service, a project supported by several different Lacombe & District community churches, providing service to the needy within our community. Our office hours are 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and have broadened our communications via the “Volunteer Advisor”, a newsletter which is sent to all the churches in the area. We have also meetings with the Lacombe ministerial to look at the needs in the community and will take a serious look at the Transitional Housing as a community project for 2008.
Volunteers continue to be our most valuable resource and a huge thanks goes out to all in our congregation who have helped, but we still need more volunteers as we have calculated over 530 hrs of time spent helping those in need. Transportation remained the greatest need with 108 out of 236 calls for assistance being drive persons to Red Deer, Wetaskawin, and Edmonton. In addition volunteers have answered calls for snow removal, Lifeline, Food bank, packing & moving, grocery shopping, and visitation. We do need more volunteers that have skills in the trades and handyman jobs. We believe that God calls us through his son Jesus Christ to be servants to others, especially those around us in need. Talk to Grace Stolte or Lori Kamps if you wish to join the team of volunteers from our congregation.
